In 2004, the OD Pavilion Social and Shag Club was formed with the intent of preserving the music and dance of the 50’s and early 60’s experienced along the Carolina coast. The original Governing Board of Directors decided that the best way to raise money for the local charities supported by the club was to have a golf tournament during the long Memorial Day weekend.
As a board member, Gene “Tootie” Blair was the inaugural organizer and tournament chairman. Gene held this position until his death in 2006 and at that time the decision was made to rename the tournament the Gene “Tootie” Blair Memorial Charity Golf Benefit.
Even though the charities have changed through the years, these are some charities we do and have supported: Children’s Recovery Center, Hall of Fame Foundation, Junior Shag Association, Sea Haven for Youth, North Myrtle Beach Area Historical Museum, New Directions of Horry County and Samaritan’s Purse. These donations made possible by this year’s golf tournament.

Once again, it is time to be making plans to play in the OD Pavilion Social &
Shag Club 22nd Annual Gene “Tootie” Blair Memorial Charity Golf Tournament.
The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2026,
at Eagle Nest Golf Course, 401 Eagle Nest Ave, Little River, SC.
Until 9:00am Shotgun Start – Golfers should arrive no later than 8:30
Hello ODPSSC Members and Golf Players:
Once again, it is time to be making plans to play in the OD Pavilion Social & Shag Club 22nd Annual Gene “Tootie” Blair Memorial Charity Golf Tournament. The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2026 at Eagle Nest Golf Course, 401 Eagle Nest Ave, Little River, SC. There will be a 9:00 am Shotgun start, Golfers should arrive no later than 8:30. Golfers will be served a box lunch consisting of Deli sandwiches, chips, soft drinks and cookies “at the turn”. This is our annual fundraiser for the club that enables us to continue to support our charities throughout the year. Wally Hall and Jewel Mellas will be the tournament coordinators. If you enjoy golf, please support the club and sign up to play in the tournament. Even if you don’t play golf, you can support us by sponsoring a hole or making a raffle donation.
It’s time to get involved. Get your applications with handicaps back to Wally Hall and Jewel Mellas as soon as possible. We want and need your participation. No gender or age limit. Ladies, seniors, everyone is invited to play regardless of skill level. Invite your friends and family to play. This is a fun tournament with lots of prizes, good friends, and a great golf course.

The golf tournament is self-supporting so we need hole sponsors and raffles prizes. Remember, hole sponsors and raffles prizes are not limited to the local area, but are invited from surrounding areas. We have had players from both Carolinas and Georgia in past years. This is a great, economical way to get a business advertised, recognize a loved one or friend. Your support helps us raise money for our charities which include but are not limited to: Children’s Recovery Center, Sea Haven for Youth, Samaritan’s Purse, Junior Shag Association, New Directions of Horry County, North Myrtle Beach Area Historical Museum and Hall of Fame Foundation. The OD Pavilion Social & Shag Club is a South Carolina 501(c)7 non-profit organization.

If you have played in the past, you know there will be some awesome raffle prizes. So be sure to buy your tickets when you sign in on Saturday morning. In addition, we will again hold the silent auction at Fat Harold’s Friday night and continue sign-ups at the course Saturday morning. Winners will be announced at the end of the tournament.
